Squirrel Squares Up With Gopher Snake In Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum: Watch This Video!

Squirrel Squares Up With Gopher Snake– It appeared that a squirrel was locked in a battle with what appeared to be a rattlesnake while walking through the trail that runs through the 98-acre zoo just west of Tucson. However, I believe the snake is actually a gopher snake, which is non-venomous and kills by constriction.

Despite the snake’s inability to bite its bushy-tailed foe, the squirrel really didn’t know how to mount a real attack, sometimes biting the body, but never locking its teeth.

In between going back in and pulling back out, the squirrel paused to regroup on nearby rocks.

There is no way to be certain, but if I had to guess the squirrel’s offspring must have been in the area and the parent was defending them.

Eventually, the squirrel fled, possibly hoping the snake would leave its family alone since it had annoyed the snake.

More details were provided by Rebecca Barker:

“During the COVID shut down, my husband starting feeding the squirrels and got the idea to make it a little more difficult for them to get the food, by creating an obstacle course.”

Squirrels are pretty cool, I get it.
